PRISON ISSUES

>>Given that NYCAHN works on the issues that directly affect the lives of our members, and given that over 80% of our members have spent time in the criminal injustice system, our members formed the Parolee Human Rights Project just to address the systemic issues that make prison so dangerous for our community while at the same time trying to address the root cause of the creation of our prison system.

>>NYCAHN is proud to have hired Romeo Sanchez, a long-time prison health care advocate and former prisoner himself as our Deputy Director.  To contact Romeo, call, (718) 802-9540 x 10.

>>  Check out this article on voting rights for formerly incarcerated individuals by Romeo Sanchez!

>>NYCAHN has committees inside Sing Sing and we would love to talk to incarcerated individuals at other facilities who are interested in organizing their community!

>>NYCAHN is currently working on pushing for improved access to healthcare in the NYS prison system.

>>The Parolee Human Rights Project meets every Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at NYCAHN, 80A Fourth Avenue b/t St. Marks and Bergen Sts. Brooklyn.  Take the 2,3,4,5,Q,B,D,W,M,N,R train to Atlantic or Pacific Sts.

>>Check out www.nyprisoners.com for some great information for people inside and those on the outside who love them and/or care

>>NYCAHN welcomes NYC Books Through Bars to our office space!
